Swiss watch exports rose 3.3 percent in December and fell 1.7 percent last year

Exports of Swiss watches grew by 3.3 percent in a year, to 2.1 billion Swiss francs in December, and fell by 1.7 percent to 25.6 billion francs last year overall, according to the website of the Swiss Watch Industry Federation (FHS).

Exports of watches, which make up the bulk of exports, also rose by 3.3 percent, to 2.02 billion francs in December.

Swiss watch exports to the United States rose by 19.2 percent to 412 million francs, and to France by 50.9 percent to 153.9 million francs. Meanwhile, exports to Hong Kong fell by 8 percent to 146.5 million francs, to China by 6.8 percent to 140.9 million francs, to Japan by 1.9 percent to 135.3 million francs, and to the United Arab Emirates by 5.2 percent to 128.8 million francs.

These six countries accounted for 53.1 percent of Swiss watch exports in December.

Swiss watch exports fell by 1.7 percent to 25.6 billion francs last year. In 2024, it exported watches worth 26 billion francs, down 2.8 percent from 2023, when it grew by 7.6 percent compared to 2022.

Last year, Switzerland exported the largest amount of watches to the United States, worth 4.352 billion francs, down 0.5 percent from 2024. The second largest market was Japan with 1.850 billion francs (-5.8 percent), and China was third on the list with 1.804 billion francs (-12.1 percent).
