The Stühmer Moment Corfu has arrived in space!

Yesterday morning, research astronaut Tibor Kapu successfully launched to the International Space Station as part of the HUNOR program. As part of the historic mission, the first Hungarian space chocolate, Stühmer Pillanat Corfu, will be available to taste on the International Space Station in a few hours.

Taste in Space

One of the main reasons for this is that microgravity causes the body’s fluids to rearrange, and the nasal and facial sinuses to become saturated, reducing the sense of smell and thus the sense of taste. Another study found that in a microgravity environment, the intensity of food aromas such as coffee, garlic, anise, coriander and cumin can decrease, and familiar flavors become duller, which is why astronauts often crave more intense, spicy, and powerful flavors.
