The national melon program is successful
The national melon program that was launched in 2011 is successful. In recent years, the watermelon production area increased to 6,000 hectares in Hungary, and its consumption increased by 20 percent – Czerván György, Minister of State of Ministry of Agriculture (FM) responsible for agri management told on Tuesday in Budapest.
Czerván György, Minister of State of Ministry of Agriculture (FM) responsible for agri management told journalists at the one scene of the Hungarian melon promotion program – in a Spar shopping center in Buda that this year about 245 thousand tons of watermelons will be harvested in the country. 40 to 50 percent of this volume will be sold abroad, mainly in Germany, in the Czech Republic and in Poland.
