Skoda Auto produced more than 925,000 vehicles worldwide in 2024, an increase of 4.2 percent compared to the previous year, Porsche Hungaria, the Hungarian importer of Volkswagen Group brands, informed MTI in a statement on Friday.

The company produced more than 280,000 battery systems for Volkswagen Group hybrid vehicles, as well as more than 1 million transmissions and nearly 500,000 engines.

Andreas Dick, Skoda Auto’s board member responsible for production and logistics, highlighted in the statement: 2024 was one of the most challenging years in Skoda Auto’s history. A record number of new vehicles were produced, international production capacity was expanded and the production process was optimized.

The plants in the Czech Republic contributed the most to Skoda’s global vehicle production. The Mladá Boleslav plant produced 575,000 (+3.4 percent) vehicles last year.

The Kvasiny plant, which will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2024, also achieved significant results, producing 248,000 cars.

The Mladá Boleslav plant is also a significant component manufacturing plant. Last year, it produced almost 500,000 engines from the efficient EA 211 series and 355,000 MQ 200 manual transmissions. The expanded production line also produced 227,000 traction batteries for electric vehicles based on the MEB platform, which are also used in other brands of the group. A further 53,600 batteries were produced for plug-in hybrid models.

The Vrchlabí plant produced 710,600 seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions in 2024.

In 2024, 54,500 new-generation Superb models rolled off the production line at the Volkswagen Group’s plant in Bratislava, Slovakia.
