The ancestors of the pigs underwent a complete genetic change after their arrival into Europe
The ancestors of the pigs underwent a complete genetic change after their arrival into Europe – a British study found.
According to archeological evidence, the ancestors of pigs were once thought to have been domesticated in the Middle East, so today’s pigs should resemble Middle Eastern wild boar. But the genome of modern European domestic pigs is similar to that of a European wild boar – researchers from Oxford University and Queen Mary University in London state. (MTI)
