Also Schlecker spyes employees
Union representatives are claiming a second large German chain, Schlecker, has been watching its employees through spyholes.
Workers at the discount drugstore have reported that store
detectives and security staff peered into stores through spyholes in
walls for hours at a time, Achim Neumann of the service sector union
Ver.di told the news agency DPA Saturday. According to the leader of
the union, Lidl and Schlecker are not the only companies to invade
their employees' privacy. "A lot of discount chains monitor
their employees. It's far more common than you would expect,"
Neumann told the mass-circulation newspaper Bild am Sonntag. He
added that creating a climate of fear and pressuring staff was
company policy at many discount chains.
