The device has a sequential read speed of up to 7250 megabytes per second (MB/s) and a write speed of up to 6300 megabytes per second (MB/s), which is up to 50% better performance compared to the previous 990 EVO . The performance increase is due to Samsung’s latest 8th generation V-NAND technology and 5 nanometer (nm) controller. The nickel-plated heat shield minimizes overheating, making it 73% more energy efficient than its predecessor.

The 4TB model offers top-notch random read and write speeds, capable of 1050K input/out operations (IOPS) per second and 1400K IOPS.
