The Romanian government forecasts a 4.4 percent decline in the economy last year
The Romanian government’s Economic Forecasting Committee expected the performance of the Romanian economy to decline by 4.4 percent last year compared to 2019, a worse forecast than the 3.8 percent decline announced in the fall.
The data is included in the forecast for the period 2020-2024, which was presented by the news agency Agerpres on Monday. According to the report, the performance of the Romanian economy was pushed back more than expected by the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, which explained the change in the data included in last autumn’s report. Retail services and vehicle sales fell more than expected, but agriculture also performed below expectations due to last year’s drought. (MTI)
