Rail Cargo Hungaria has started transporting sugar beets to the sugar factory in Kaposvár
Rail Cargo Hungaria (RCH) has started delivering sugar beets to Magyar Cukor Zrt.’s factory in Kaposvár – the company informed MTI on Tuesday.
In their announcement, they wrote: the raw material needed for sugar production is transported by rail by RCH, and about half of the crop reaches the factory by road.
By the end of January 2024, the market-leading rail freight company will transfer 450,000 to 470,000 tons of produce from around 40 dispatch stations in Hungary to the only sugar factory in Hungary, it was noted.
They added that the company’s trains cover more than 150,000 kilometers during the 125-130 days of the processing campaign, an average of 4 beet trains run on the Hungarian railway network every day, and not infrequently Rail Cargo Hungaria’s trains will transport crops from more than 450 kilometers away.
The company pointed out that the price of traction electricity has decreased compared to last year’s campaign period, but it is still several times the price level of previous years.
