According to the statement, the ministry has introduced enhanced biosecurity measures due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation in Hungary and Slovakia and the high risk of introducing the disease. “All vehicles entering Serbia from Hungary will be directed to disinfection barriers in order to carry out the necessary disinfection measures. In addition, special checkpoints have been prepared at the said border crossing for more thorough disinfection of vehicles,” the statement reads. The Ministry of Agriculture explained that vehicles are being sprayed with manual or mechanical means at the disinfection points in order to ensure the most thorough disinfection. The ministry also noted that the import of cattle, pigs, sheep and goats, as well as products of animal origin, including food intended for consumption by travelers if they contain products of animal origin, is strictly prohibited from countries where the disease has been detected or restrictive measures have been introduced. Foot-and-mouth disease has not yet appeared in Serbia.
