The BioTechUSA group was able to grow despite market challenges
The purely domestically owned BioTechUSA group has published its annual report: despite the economic difficulties, the company showed stable results in 2024, although the growth rate slowed down somewhat compared to previous years. The sales revenue of one of Europe’s largest manufacturers and distributors of dietary supplements increased by 3.5 percent to HUF 93.7 billion, while its EBITDA increased by 2 percent to HUF 10.68 billion. The group placed great emphasis on increasing efficiency, technological and product developments, strategic investments, and continued to expand in foreign markets while maintaining its domestic market leadership position.
Four brands, but one common path characterizes the BioTechUSA group, which has 1,900 employees and 4,500 B2B partners, and is now present in 103 countries with 49 webshops and 328 stores. The company is part of the BioTechUSA brand – which motivates ordinary people to achieve their individual goals, whether it is bodybuilding, endurance sports, or even a lasting lifestyle change; the brand dedicated to gym training, Scitec Nutrition; Hungary’s more than 20-year-old dietary supplement web store, Builder; and the ShakerStore business unit, which produces unique mixing bottles. Instead of crisis management, the company group remained stable in 2024, which was burdened with economic difficulties and geopolitical conflicts, during which it not only preserved the growth of previous years, but also prepared the expansion of the following years with its forward-looking investments and product developments.
Moderate growth in a turbulent environment
The group started 2024 from a high base, having doubled its turnover in three years with growth of 42, 29 and 15 percent respectively between 2021 and 2023. In order to maintain this competitive advantage in the dietary supplement market, it had to optimize all processes from procurement to production to sales channels, and also needed value-creating investments and innovative product development. As a result, the company finally increased its sales by 3.5 percent to HUF 93.7 billion, summing up B2B and B2C sales data. Although the growth rate slowed down somewhat compared to previous years, this is an absolute sales record in the company’s history. Profitability and profitability have also remained: after-tax profit increased to HUF 7.77 billion from HUF 7.17 billion a year earlier, while EBITDA, i.e. earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, increased from HUF 10.47 to HUF 10.68 billion.
Investing in the future in an era of challenges
In 2024, the company spent almost HUF 6.5 billion on investments, technological innovation and product development, one of the most significant results of which is the multilayer slice line capable of producing 55 million complex protein slices per year. Thanks to the development, BioTechUSA will triple its annual slice production capacity, and will also enter the market with a new premium slice and a new premium vitamin family. In addition to the unique development at the European level, they built a new shaker logo factory, continued social developments affecting the well-being of their employees, and also the energy modernization of their production complexes, thanks to the latter, the company will provide 30 percent of the electricity consumption in both production complexes with green solutions in the future.
