Champagne is a real woman’s drink
The movement of bubbles suggests the timeless connection between champagne and femininity. There are few drinks that are so strongly associated with the ladies. Far from being just about the love of champagne, this endlessly sophisticated bond is about the intertwining of style and beauty, where the bubbles make the radiance of femininity even brighter. From Coco Chanel or Brigitte Bardot to Helen Mirren and Marilyn Monroe, this centuries-old joint story has been the protagonist of many world-famous ladies and, with them, many domestic stars to this day. We have collected a bouquet of them that shows this relationship.
The testimony of Madame de Pompadour, according to which “champagne is the only wine whose consumption leaves a woman’s beauty untouched”, can be considered a striking opening of the special relationship between champagne and women. The example of famous ladies also played a role in the popularity of this noble drink later on. Some according to reports, for example, Queen Elizabeth ended her day with a glass of champagne.Women are already members of the Chevaliers Törley Order of Champagne, and in fact, they make up almost a quarter of the nearly 400 people.
The iconic female figures of the fashion and film worlds often appeared on festive occasions, at social events or in their roles with a glass of champagne in their hands. All of these contributed to champagne becoming a symbol of luxury, style and elegance. Many of them also became famous for their witty sayings related to champagne. We made a bouquet of these:
French fashion designer Coco Chanel: I only drink champagne on two occasions: when I’m in love and when I’m not.
German actress Marlene Dietrich: champagne turns every day into Sunday.
American actress Bette Davis: there comes a point in a woman’s life when nothing else helps but a glass of champagne.
American actress Marilyn Monroe: in the evening I go to bed with a drop of perfume on my skin and in the morning I drink a glass of champagne to warm up my body.
French actress Brigitte Bardot: Champagne is the only thing that cheers me up when I’m tired.
American singer Tina Turner: when I drink champagne, I either cry or laugh… It always makes me so emotional. I love it!
British actress Helen Mirren: I’m a person who loves quality champagne, but I buy my clothes from thrift stores anyway.
