PENNY’s truck joined the Donation Convoy this year as well
This fall, the spectacular Donation Convoy of the Hungarian Food Bank Association was launched again, drawing attention to the problem of food waste and deprivation for the 20th time. The colorful fleet of trucks marching through the streets of Budapest could not miss the red-and-yellow vehicle of PENNY, which transported more than 11 tons of donations to help those in need.
PENNY has been supporting the initiative for the eleventh year, and over the years it has delivered more than 129 tons of food to families in need. This year’s offering also included non-perishable food, beverages and household staples, including private label pasta, cereals, biscuits, teas, fruit juices and canned goods.
The Donation Convoy set off on October 16th to once again deliver aid to thousands of families through the collaboration of partner companies and volunteers. The spectacular convoy not only delivers donations, but also an important message: the power of collaboration can really make a difference.
“For PENNY, social responsibility is not a campaign, but an approach. We believe that the power of communities lies in actions, and the Donation Convoy proves every year how important collaboration is in supporting those in difficult situations. We are proud to have been part of the initiative for years, and this year we were able to help with another 11 tons of food donations”
– said Eszter Kazatsay, PENNY’s communications manager.
The long-term cooperation between PENNY and the Hungarian Food Bank Association clearly shows how responsible corporate operations can become real help for those who need it the most.
“It feels good to know, that there are companies that care about the situation of those in need and the fight against waste not only during the famous World Food Day, but every day of the year. The non-perishable food donated today greatly contributes to making the everyday lives of those in need easier, but it is at least as important that we save the near-expiry products from the 222 units of PENNY Hungary every blessed day with our joint efforts, with which we can also provide support to people in difficult situations. We help together every day”
– said András Nagygyörgy, the Food Bank’s director of external relations.
