Those receiving pension-like benefits would also receive food vouchers
The pensioner food voucher would be available not only to pensioners, but also to those receiving other pension-like benefits, including people with disabilities, Ádám Kósa, the State Secretary for Disability Affairs of the Ministry of the Interior and Zsolt Nyitrai, the Prime Minister’s Commissioner, announced on Wednesday.
According to a post published on the State Secretary’s Facebook page, Ádám Kósa and Zsolt Nyitrai announced at the Wednesday meeting of the National Disability Council that the proposal to be put to social consultation would extend the scope of eligibility for the 30,000-forint food voucher to people with disabilities receiving pension-like benefits.
Zsolt Nyitrai highlighted in the published video: The Hungarian government protects people, also against unjustified food price increases. That is why the margin reduction was introduced, which reduced the prices of more than 800 products by an average of 20 percent.
“We didn’t stop here, we won’t stop,” he said, referring to the fact that they plan to introduce food vouchers for the most vulnerable group, pensioners and the elderly, from the fall.
The Prime Minister’s Commissioner expressed his pleasure that a proposal was able to be voiced at the meeting of the National Disability Council, and thanked Ádám Kósa for “pushing this through the government.” He added that this also shows how good a decision it was to establish an independent State Secretariat for Disability within the government, as proposals from people with disabilities can thus be put on the government’s table with even greater weight.
Ádám Kósa said in the video that the aim of the regulation is for pensioners and those receiving other benefits to receive a voucher with which they can buy cold food in Hungary.
