The producer price of raw milk decreased by 26 percent compared to a year earlier
In December 2023, the producer price of raw milk in national currency decreased by 20 percent in the European Union, by 17 percent in New Zealand, and by 16 percent in the USA compared to a year earlier.

According to AKI PÁIR data, the national average producer price of raw milk in Hungary was HUF 164.63/kilogram in January 2024. In addition to a 0.07 percentage point deterioration in fat content, a 0.05 percentage point increase in protein content and a 2 percent increase in the base price, the average price of raw milk rose by 2 percent in January 2024 compared to December 2023, and was 26 percent below the average price of the same month of the previous year.
The price has gone up
According to the data of AKI PÁIR, in January 2024, compared to the previous month, fresh milk in bags and boxes with a fat content of 2.8 percent (+4 percent each), canned UHT milk with a fat content of 2.8 percent, portioned butter (+3 percent each percent), the processing sales price of sour cream (+1 percent) rose, while fruit yogurt and boxed UHT (preserved) milk with a fat content of 1.5 percent stagnated. According to KSH data, the consumer price of added butter (+9 percent), boxed UHT milk with a fat content of 2.8 percent, Trappist block cheese (+3 percent) and sour cream with a fat content of 20 percent (+1 percent) increased , the prices of 1.5 percent fat ESL (long-fresh) pasteurized milk and 12 percent fat sour cream both stagnated, while 2.8 percent fat ESL (long-fresh) pasteurized milk (-1 percent), fruit yogurt (-2 percent) consumer price decreased in the same comparison.
