With the presence of representatives of the Government of Côte d'Ivoire, Nestlé inaugurated a new research and development center in Abidjan.
The new center, will focus on the improving of the local production of raw materials, such as cocoa, coffee and cassava. The improved quality of crops in West Africa will enable Nestlé to use more local raw materials, which will increase the sales of the local producers. The new Nestlé R & D center will help the company to resolve the aging and disease problems of the West African cocoa plantations. Nestlé in the next few years will support planting of millions of high-yield cropped, pest-resistant cocoa trees.
