Nestlé hunts for clues to 12-ton chocolate theft with ‘Stolen KitKat Tracker'
Nestlé has confirmed that the news was not an April Fool’s joke, and that a shipment from Italy to Poland, totaling 12 tons, 413,793 pieces of KitKat, has indeed disappeared. The company has therefore launched a “Stolen KitKat Tracker” page, where you can check whether a given bar comes from the stolen batch by entering the identifier on the packaging.
According to the company, the truck and the cargo are still missing, and based on Nestlé’s previous warning, there may be temporary stock shortages in some markets during the Easter period. The company expects that the product may also appear on the black market, so it asks traders and consumers to check the code and follow the indicated actions in case of a product from a suspicious source.

Brand communication also quickly picked up on the story: the KitKat case received several creative responses on international social platforms, and the topic also put the issue of retail and logistics security back in the spotlight.
