From September 25 to October 8, 2025, Nestlé and Tesco are once again announcing a joint campaign to support the work of the Hungarian Food Bank Association, in which Nestlé will support the Food Bank’s activities with one percent of the price of Nestlé products purchased in domestic Tesco hypermarkets, and Tesco will double the amount collected in this way. The organization will spend the support received during the “Let’s put together the help” campaign primarily on logistics, saving food, assembling packages and delivering them to those in need.

What does the Hungarian Food Bank Association do?

The Hungarian Food Bank collects surplus, damaged, expired food from retailers, producers and manufacturers, i.e. food that is no longer fit for sale but still suitable for consumption, and ensures that it reaches those in need. Together with their volunteers and the charitable organizations that join their national food rescue network, they visit hundreds of stores every day to collect leftover baked goods, vegetables and fruits from the previous day. They are in contact with more than a hundred manufacturers and distributors to deliver their surpluses to those in need. In the past 20 years, more than 120 million kilos of food have been saved from being thrown away and destroyed.

The Food Bank has recently also started to rescue ready-made meals. Last year, nearly 230,000 portions of untouched hot meals were collected from corporate events and school canteens – also with the aim of helping people and families in need.
