Nestlé will grow in 2009
Because of the financial crisis the sales of frozen food and chocolate were up and mineral water were down.
"Nestle will also grow respectably in 2009. But that doesn't
mean that the economic situation won't be difficult," Chairman
Peter Brabeck told the Weltwoche weekly in an interview issued ahead
of publication.
Brabeck admitted that consumption had
fallen sharply in recent months, with shoppers eating what they
already had at home and retailers cutting stock.
"The past few months since
November were difficult for the consumer good industry. Now that
people don't have a new television or a new car, then they eat a bit
more chocolate," he said.
