According to the unanimous decision of the National Assembly of Delegates of the National Chamber of Agriculture and Food (NAK), a discount on membership fees will be provided to about 300,000 members and the equity framework available to county presidencies has been increased, which means a total of 1.6 billion forints worth of assistance to farmers (NAK), the public body informed MTI on Thursday.

According to the announcement, a decision was made that primary producers and sole proprietors under the age of 40 and turning 40 this year will automatically receive a 30 percent discount on membership fees. The membership fees of primary producers and sole proprietors over the age of 40 and with a sales revenue of less than 15 million forints in 2023 will be reduced by the same amount. In view of the frost damage in April, the membership fee of primary producers growing pome fruits, stone fruits or other fruits and stone seeds will be reduced by 30 percent. Individual entrepreneurs will also have to pay 30 percent less membership fee if they grow the listed fruits as their main or secondary activity, and business organizations if they grow the listed fruits as their main activity. Chamber members who meet several conditions – age, sales revenue, activity – can only use one of the discounts, they wrote.

The NAK will also increase the equity framework available to county presidencies by 300 million forints to 800 million forints

This can be used primarily to reduce the membership fee of members who are in a difficult situation due to animal diseases – such as foot-and-mouth disease, bird flu – and drought. The total value of the automatic and equity benefits exceeds 1.6 billion forints, to which the Ministry of Agriculture contributes about 500 million forints – they wrote. They highlighted: in the current extremely difficult situation, the public body is also helping farmers by rationalizing its own operations and expanding its services – with targeted advisory programs, tender mentoring, legal advice – and the savings are used directly to support membership.
