Nébih issued an emergency permit
The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) has issued an emergency permit for three diquat active plant protection products based on indications from professional and producer chambers. The purpose of the permit is to ensure the safe harvesting of sunflowers with as little crop loss as possible.
The license covers the following herbicides:
Reglone Air (manufactured by Syngenta)
Solaris (producer: Globachem NV, Belgium)
Desicash 20 SL (manufactured by Sharda Cropchem Ltd., India)
These agents can be used in sunflower crops from August 9 to September 23, 2024, specifically for the purpose of drying the stock.
According to Nébih’s statement, the agent can be applied by aerial spraying, from a fixed-wing aircraft or a helicopter. The size of the managed area is limited to a maximum of 47,190 hectares.
Diquat-based pesticides were banned in Europe six years ago because of their danger. At the time of the ban, it was argued that these substances posed an increased danger to workers, bystanders, and residents.
