There has been no bird flu outbreak in the Southern Great Plain since December 7, and the required measures have been taken by those concerned, so the National Food Chain Safety Authority (Nébih) has lifted most of the surveillance zones set up due to bird flu in the area affecting four counties – Bács-Kiskun, Békés, Csongrád-Csanád and Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok – according to the information published on the Nébih website.
According to the announcement, the mandatory final disinfection has not been completed on a livestock farm, so the 10-kilometer radius surveillance zone will be maintained until the end of the period.
They emphasized that the bird flu virus has not disappeared from the country, so biosecurity measures must continue to be observed.
In high-risk counties, the mandatory confinement of poultry will also remain in effect as long as there is a risk that poultry flocks may become infected from wild birds, they wrote.
