Catch of the day – Aldi offers some products at half price
Aldi Hungary is introducing a new measure in all of its stores in Hungary under the slogan “Catch of the day”. In the display bakeries, you can buy bagged baked goods left over from the previous day’s closing at a 50 percent discount until noon the next day, and you can also get unsightly vegetables and fruits in packages at a 30-50 percent discount.
In the summer of 2023, the supermarket chain sold the products left in the display bakeries the day before at a 50 percent discount until 12:00 the next day in five of its stores – two in Budapest and three in rural areas – as a test, and also sold unit packages of unsightly vegetables and fruits at an outstanding discount.
The company will introduce this measure in all 172 stores across the country from 2024. Only the same salty or sweet products can be included in the bakery packages – for example, only scones, only cocoa snails.
