In big cities, the vending machine is already the most preferred way of receiving online purchases
Whether it is about sending or receiving a package, in the domestic Internet society, the parcel machine is considered the second best solution. This is a big step forward, especially in the case of the latter category: the popularity rate of 14 percent two years ago has now almost doubled to 27 percent – according to this year’s second Foxpost Box Index (FBI) survey, from which we can also read: in cities with county status, they prefer to choose people use automated parcel pick-up as a courier service.

While in Budapest vending machines and couriers are still neck and neck in terms of preferences for receiving parcels (32 versus 34%), residents of cities with county rights already vote for the box solution, according to the second research of the Foxpost Box Index (FBI) this year: to the question, which solution they prefer to pick up their goods purchased on the Internet, 43 percent of the respondents gave the parcel machine as their answer, while 34 percent named the courier service.
“Undoubtedly, the fact that the number of parcel machines available in the country will be close to 3,000 by October 2022 also plays a role in the popularity of parcel machines to this extent”
– emphasized Norbert Madar, partner of GKID, which prepared the research. At the same time, the specialist added that the machines are now mainly concentrated in settlements with more than 5,000 inhabitants, based on which it is hardly surprising that at the national level, parcel machines are still lagging far behind the courier solution (25 versus 48%).
