Shoppers are looking for large-size products
OTC drugs (those that can be bought without a prescription), medicinal products and dietary supplements are very popular among consumers. In this product category shoppers are typically looking for large-size products with the well-known brand names on them. They are really keeping an eye on promotions as well.
According to Roland Kanyó, dm’s marketing and PR manager, formerly 50g and 100g vitamin C products dominated the market, but now 1,000g and 1,500g products are the most popular. He added that in their drugstores lots of promotional materials and well-trained staff help customers learn about medicinal products and dietary supplements, and about what they can do.
Áron Hidvégi, GSK Consumer Healthcare’s shopper marketing manager, told our magazine that Cataflam Dolo (which they put on the market last year) keeps flying high sales-wise. He also spoke to us about a project they are working on: they wish to find the time and opportunity for giving consumers personalised information, e.g. ‘The lightness of movement’ by Voltaren is a good example of this initiative.
