Plastic bags are problematic
Due to their polluting effect the European Commission would give any tools to its Member States to fight against the use of plastic bags – the European Commission told on Monday
The Commission proposes to amend the EU Directive on packaging in order to be minimize the use of plastic bags made of thinner materials than 50 microns. These slim bags are re-used fewer than the average, they mostly end in the trash.
The Member States could use economic tools, such as product charges or even ban the use of such packaging materials. (Konsiczky Zoltán, MTI)
