Mobile food vending is still a profitable business
It turned out that mobile food sales are still a successful version of the gastro business: they were invited to 40 percent more locations and events in the 2023 season. The current 150 food trucks have been installed in 30 cities, so the merchants saw a 10-15 percent increase in traffic, and the Food Truck Show closed the year 2023 with a 30-40 percent increase in traffic. However, the rise in prices and the resulting loss of profit will also pose a serious challenge to traders in the winter.
“Visitors did not spend as much more at the events than the prices rose. Although their turnover increased by 10-15 percent compared to last year, they had to reduce the profit margin, otherwise their products would have become unsellable. We are also worried about the traders, because this loss of profit appears as a serious deficit for them. We don’t know how many survive the winter”
– summed up the dark side of the 2023 season by Zoltán Horváth, the founder-owner of the Food Truck Show, who nevertheless stated that they had a successful year, thanks to the company’s catering orders, when they undertook catering for other events instead of their own. They also managed to expand their catering equipment. The digital menu, the allergy application, which analyzes the food, as well as the guest invitation tool are now standard equipment at all outstations.
