Mol has completed the sale of 39 filling stations in Slovenia to Shell as part of its acquisition of OMV Slovenija
The previously announced sale of the Mol group’s 39 filling stations in Slovenia to Shell as part of the acquisition of OMV Slovenija has been completed, Mol told MTI on Monday.
According to the information, the transaction was concluded in accordance with the conditions published on March 9, 2023.
The announcement highlighted that the transaction was a condition of the European Commission for the recent acquisition of OMV Slovenija. The handover of the 39 stations is expected to begin in October.
Following the acquisition of OMV Slovenija’s network in July 2023, Mol became the second dominant player in the Slovenian fuel market. In the coming days, the rebranding of the first MOL&INA filling station in Murszomba (in Murska Sobota) will begin, and then gradually, in the first half of 2024, all MOL&INA filling stations will also be transformed. Mol will also introduce MOL EVO fuels in the entire network by January 1, 2024 at the latest, and the company’s digital loyalty program will also be available to consumers, the announcement reads.
The Mol group is active in more than 30 countries and employs 24,000 people. The company group operates three refineries and two petrochemical plants in Hungary, Slovakia and Croatia, and has a network of more than 2,500 gas stations in 10 countries in Central and Southeastern Europe.
