Consumers have already received almost 12 billion forints back through MOHU’s REpont application
The number of transfers made directly to bank accounts through the REpont application of MOHU MOL Waste Management Zrt. in its mandatory redemption system has reached almost 10 million, as a result of which consumers have received nearly 12 billion forints back using the digital platform – MOHU told MTI on Tuesday.
Thanks to the popularity of the application, around 40 thousand transfers are now made daily through the REpont system, with the average amount of transfers being 1,250 forints.
It was recalled that the REpont application became available on Google Play and the App Store on February 21, 2024. Following the grace period of the mandatory redemption system (DRS), the number of users began to increase dramatically at the beginning of last summer and the popularity of the application has remained unbroken ever since.
It was highlighted that the application, which is unique in the world, also allows customers to transfer the redemption fee to their own bank account after registration, thus simplifying and speeding up the redemption process. Since the introduction of the system, more than 1.2 million users have downloaded the application, and consumers are already requesting a significant portion of the refunded amounts through this digital platform.
Consumers can request a refund of the redemption fee in several ways: more than 80 percent of the 1.4 billion bottles, cans and jars that have been returned since the system was launched have been requested as a voucher that can be redeemed in stores. In addition, the 50 forint fee per bottle can also be donated to charitable causes, thanks to which more than 118 million forints have been collected for the benefit of children’s hospitals so far – reads the MOHU statement.
