The Minister would support irrigation with state involvement
Irrigation is not possible without state involvement, stated Gráf József, Minister of Agriculture. Its lack, brings the domestic participants a disadvantage, compared to other countries in agriculture.
While in the developed European countries, the rate of irrigated areas is 60-80 percent, in Hungary this figure is only 30 percent. Since 1990, the volume of agricultural irrigation water utilization decreased by 30 percent, while on the European market it would be a strong competitive advantage, if Hungary would take advantage of its high ability of soil and water resources – reports Origo.
