Agriculture gave 3.1 percent of the Hungarian GDP last year
In 2011, the Hungarian agriculture has produced record revenues, which provided 4.6 percent of the Hungarian GDP, but in 2012 the figure declined to the previous rate to 3.1 percent – said Kapronczai István, leader of the Agricultural Economics Research Institute on Wednesday Eger at the 14th North Hungarian Wine Conference.
Kapronczai István emphasized that agriculture only gives 3-4 percent of the gross national product, but with the downstream sectors, it is provides jobs to 800 thousand people, therefore it is a strategic sector.
In this situation, we can speak about agri-business, as with the food industry, agri-chemical industry, and with trade trade agriculture brings 11 to 12 percent of the GDP – he added. (MTI)
