METRO joins to the Earth Hour initiative for the fifth time

All illuminated signs of every METRO stores will be turned off in Hungary for an hour. The protection of the environment is important element of the operation of Metro. In order to protect the environment, the company is constantly seeking for solutions to reduce emissions and to protect the environment.

“We consider the Earth Hour as a very important initiative, so we joined again this year, since it draws attention to the protection of natural resources, and also seeking for alternative sources of energy. ” – said Roland Ruffing CEO of METRO Commercial Ltd.

METRO is an active supporter of the protection of environment on international level. The company has launched several environmentally friendly initiatives worldwide.

In Hungary, several projects have been implemented, that target energy saving and pollutant emission reduction, so energy consumption was reduced by a two-digit percentage on an annual level.
