METRO joins to the Earth Hour initiative for the sixth time
All Hungarian METRO store’s column lighting will be turned off for an hour, and the store sales area lighting will work in safe mode for climate protection purposes. The METRO stores joined to the Earth Hour initiative for the sixth time in order to protect the environment. In addition they have started their own global emission reduction initiative this year.
“We consider the Earth Hour a great initiative therefore we join this year again. The initative draws attention to the protection of natural resources, and to the searching for alternative energy sources. The company attaches great importance to the further reduction of the energy consumption of the department stores, so this year the company launches its own internal program in which we urge our employees to do the same at work and in their homes.”- Krubl Yvette, communications manager of the METRO Kereskedelmi Kft. told. She is also responsible for the sustainability within the company.
