New concept by Metro Group
Delivery system, HoReCa and advice center for small-traders – Metro Group is trying to boost its traffic with a new concept all over Europe.
If the new cash & carry pilot store
in Siegen, Germany proves to be successful, this new Metro Group
concept will be introduced across Europe. Over the next few weeks,
similar stores in Ulm and Augsburg will be the next outlets to open
their doors, bringing the total investment for these three outlets to
EUR10 million (US$13.4 million). As Metro is currently eyeing the
hotel, restaurant and catering businesses, new features such as
delivery service have been implemented in the pilot stores. Orders
can be placed by phone or fax and, in the near future, by e-mail.
Another new feature is the advisory service regarding product
arrangement, or store layout and design for small traders. According
to the company this service has proven to be a big success in Poland.
Additionally, Metro has reduced its product range to make purchasing
faster.
