McDonald’s doubled the number of disabled employees in one year
On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Hungarian McDonald’s proudly announced that it has made significant progress in promoting inclusion in the labor market thanks to a program that began this year, dedicated to employees with disabilities. As a result of the program launched at the beginning of the year, the number of employees with disabilities in its restaurants operated by Progress Étteremházólóz Kft. has more than doubled in one year, from 80 to 162.
McDonald’s is proud to provide a diverse and inclusive workplace for its employees. Its goal is for everyone to find a position that suits them at the restaurant chain. That is why special attention is paid to providing employees with disabilities with the opportunity to enter and reintegrate into the world of work.
Rehabilitation mentors help the affected employees integrate, and they are also provided with special support from occupational medicine. In restaurants, minor modifications are made if necessary (for example, handrails are installed) and special work clothes are purchased for the affected employees.
In addition to recruitment, awareness-raising among restaurant employees was also given great emphasis. This year, for example, restaurant consultants and restaurant managers participated in sensitization training, in which they were prepared with the involvement of experienced experts to support employees with disabilities. In addition, special training was also launched among employees of restaurants employing affected employees, focusing on colleagues living with autism and those with hearing impairments.
