Hungarians don’t just care about money when looking for a job
Between two similar job offers, three-quarters of Hungarian workers choose the company they consider more reliable, even if it does not offer the best salary.
In an uncertain situation and facing a difficult employment environment, trust is becoming an increasingly important factor in employees’ decisions. According to a recent CVonline.hu survey of nearly 1,000 people, reliability is a crucial aspect for 75% of respondents, even if the alternative offers a higher salary.
It is no coincidence that nearly three-quarters of respondents consider job stability to be at least “very important”: surprisingly, factors such as the atmosphere, good managers or information available about the company’s stability are more important than monetary benefits.
What makes a workplace reliable in Hungary today?
According to the research, a reliable workplace is transparent, stable, humane and offers development. The feeling of reliability therefore stems not only from past stability, but also from the fact that the employer can provide a predictable vision for the future. Career development opportunities are expected by 87% of respondents, and commitment to equal opportunities is also an increasingly important factor in trust. The majority would therefore be thinking about a career, not just a temporary job.
The concept of a reliable workplace also receives special attention: according to 79% of respondents, real security is when the job is verifiable or comes from a well-known company, with an accurate job description (67%) and transparent salary and benefit information (64%).
In response to this, CVonline.hu introduced the system of verified advertisements, where both the job and the job opportunity are verified before they can appear on the site.
“Trust is no longer enough to have it. Make it visible must become. Employees are hungry for information and transparency, and we can no longer ignore this,” says Zoltán Balla, CEO of CVOnline.hu.
The price of unreliability
The lack of trust is equally strong: according to respondents, the biggest warning signs are bad online reviews (65%), incomplete or inaccurate information (62%), and hidden wages (57%). These factors not only reduce the willingness to apply, but can also cause a serious reputational and competitive disadvantage in the labor market.
Trust as a competitive advantage
CVonline.hu’s research closely aligns with the HR and economic trends of 2025, where trust is no longer an “emotional” factor, but a business indicator determining recruitment success. Stability, transparency and employee well-being are not only HR ideals, but also practical conditions that provide a competitive advantage, especially for those who want to address committed and value-driven employees.
Reliability has now become not only a value, but also a strategic tool. Those who recognize this not only attract better applicants, but also build a more loyal team based on the research.
