Another favorite food of Hungarians may continue to rise in price
The drought was not good for the market of olive oil and olives, which is also a popular segment in Hungary. This year, around 37 percent fewer olives are expected due to the extreme weather.
Drought and extreme heat in recent years, especially last year, have caused a lot of damage to olive growers in most parts of Europe. Due to the extreme weather, there was much less harvest, and this results in a decrease in stocks, writes the Roadster.
Among the largest olive oil producing and exporting countries, Italy, Greece, Spain and Portugal have also confirmed that farmers can produce significantly – about 37 percent – less olive oil – and this means a serious increase in prices for Hungarians as well.
