Hungarians have purchased a fifth more mineral water on Kifli.hu in the past year, with the one and a half liter and still versions being the most popular. In a regional comparison, Hungary is in third place, with Hungarians ordering significantly more mineral water than Czechs or Austrians.

In one year, households ordered about a fifth more mineral water from the Kifli.hu online supermarket: nearly 11 million liters in the past 12 months, which clearly shows that more and more people are choosing convenient, hassle-free purchasing for everyday, heavy products like mineral water. An average customer orders 116 liters of mineral water per year, and an average purchase contains 13 liters. In the past year, mineral water was included in every fourth order, and Kifli couriers deliver nearly 30 thousand liters per day. The largest single order in the past 12 months was 9 thousand liters – according to a summary prepared for World Water Day.

Mineral water is a basic product for many people, which they should always have at home – and which customers prefer not to carry home themselves. The service of Kifli.hu is therefore not only convenient, but also a real help in everyday life.

The most chosen packaging for Hungarian families is the one and a half liter bottle, almost half of the sales can be attributed to it. Half-liter packaging accounts for about 20 percent of the turnover, while the remaining part is made up of larger and multipack packaging. 60 percent of the mineral water purchased was still in the past 12 months, the proportion of carbonated versions is around 20 percent, but flavored and functional waters also represent a stable share of almost 20 percent.

The proportion of premium category waters with higher mineral content, special origins or even flavors is also significant, every fifth liter comes from this segment, while customers can choose from a wide range of products from affordable, everyday products to premium international brands.

Kifli.hu currently offers 165 types of mineral water from 47 brands, from 15 countries, so everything from classic favorites to more special products is available in one place.

A total of 77 million liters of mineral water were sold in the markets of Kifli.hu’s parent company, Rohlik Group, in the past 12 months. In terms of average volume per customer, Hungary ranks third with 116 liters after Romania (183 liters) and Germany (138 liters), while in the Czech Republic, 99 liters and in Austria, 84 liters of mineral water are ordered per customer per year on average.

The most popular brands include Jana, Mizse and Szentkirályi, while Omega Aqua, Vöslauer and Evian from the premium segment are available.

“Mineral water is typically a product that no one likes to carry, yet it is constantly needed. We see that more and more families are deciding to take this burden off their shoulders and entrust us with the purchase. And we make everyday life easier with a wide selection and reliable quality, especially in the summer heat, when not only is more mineral water needed, but carrying it around is also much more uncomfortable”

– said Szilveszter Sasvári, Marketing Manager at Kifli.hu.

The convenience is further enhanced by the home-delivery service, thanks to which bottle return becomes a natural part of shopping. Customers can hand over the empty beverage packaging marked with 50 forints to the courier at home when their order is delivered (maximum 10 pieces per order), and the redemption fee will be immediately credited to their customer account in the form of credits. Kifli customers redeemed more than six million beverage packaging last year, and in the first two and a half months of this year, more than 1.7 million have already been redeemed, so more than 82 million forints in redemption fees have been returned to customers since the beginning of the year.
