The IP awareness of Hungarian companies lags behind the EU average
Barely 4% of Hungarian companies have industrial property protection, which is less than half of the EU average. However, it would be important to increase this number, because obtaining just one protection can result in a growth surplus of up to 10%. The National Office of Intellectual Property draws attention to the possibilities of this, this time emphasizing companies operating in the circular economy.
In our country, only 4% of small and medium-sized enterprises have industrial property protection, while in Poland this proportion is 10% and in the EU 8.8%. This is particularly significant in light of the fact that, according to the 2022 report of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), 93% of companies with intellectual property rights (IP rights) experienced a positive impact on their business: obtaining a single protection has an average of 10% can result in a growth surplus.
In its IP Heroes campaign, the National Office of Intellectual Property (SZTNH) presents companies that consciously use the tools of intellectual property protection – this time in the area of the circular economy. The purpose of the IP Heroes campaign is to draw attention to the fact that innovative companies can increase their market advantage and competitiveness by obtaining protection.
