The Hungarian households try to save on electricity, gas and clothes
Almost two-thirds of the Hungarians reduced electricity and gas consumption during last year and spent less on clothing. 22 percent of the Hungarians has no any savings after having paid the household and living expenses.
Nielsen market research company’s survey of 50 countries and 26,000 consumers carried out during March and April, also points out that most of the free-spending money turns on loan repayment (41 percent) which is the highest in Europe. One spend less on home investment and on vacation. Also saving on replacement of telecommunication equipments and household appliances, on entertainment and telephone costs.
Global comparison of the findings, most of the questioned, saves on clothing and the away from home entertainment. Only the third most frequently mentioned possibility is reducing electricity and gas consumption. However, in most countries of Europe people are also trying to save the most on energy like the Hungarians. Twenty-one European countries have an average of 36 percent who replied that it is possible to put money aside, after paying the maintenance costs.
The results of the research contributes to the knowledge of changing consumer and shopping habits due to the crisis.
