MADOSZ the decline of tobacco-growing areas can stop
According to the Hungarian Tobacco Farmers Association (MADOSZ), the decline of tobacco-growing areas can stop this year. The farmers are expected to plant 4800 hectares, such as in last year – told Bényei Illés, president of the Pócspetri-based advocacy trade association on Saturday to MTI.
Bényei Illés told that from 2004 to 2011, the tobacco growing area in the country declined by about 1,000 hectares. The previously experienced continuous deterioration of the producer sentiment has stopped, due to last year’s good yields, the favorable purchase prices and after the payment of the EU restructuring aids in February.
