Lufthansa’s profit almost doubled last year
Last year’s after-tax profit of the German airline Deutsche Lufthansa AG was 1.67 billion euros, almost double the 791 million euros of the previous year – it was posted on the company’s website on Thursday.
The group, which includes the subsidiaries of Eurowings, Austrian, Swiss and Brussels Airlines, closed the second consecutive year with a profit last year after losses in the previous two years related to the coronavirus epidemic.
Revenues rose by 14.6 percent to 35.4 billion euros. The group’s number of passengers was 123 million, 20 percent more than in 2022, but still below the pre-pandemic record level. The number of flights increased by 14 percent to 946,000. Adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) jumped to EUR 2.7 billion from EUR 1.23 billion in 2022.
