Lidl also supported the Food Bank
Lidl Hungary is joining the Hungarian Food Bank Association’s Christmas fundraiser, which will be held in 132 stores across the country from November 14 to 16. During the campaign, the Food Bank volunteers will collect non-perishable food, which will then be delivered to local families in need living in the vicinity of the stores.
As a responsible and ethical company, Lidl Hungary has been striving for years to support disadvantaged children and their families with as many tools as possible. In this spirit, the discount chain has joined the country’s largest non-perishable food collection campaign organized by the Hungarian Food Bank Association, which aims to ease the burden on those in need during the holiday season and in the weeks following. The organization and several large grocery chains, including Lidl, are asking customers to help with the collection. Those interested can receive information about the details from the Food Bank volunteers at the entrances of the stores participating in the donation drive.
The charitable collection will last from November 14-16, 2025, in Lidl stores at the following times:
- Friday: between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.;
- Saturday: between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.;
- Sunday: between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Those who would be happy to donate can help those in need with non-perishable food items – for example, canned goods, preserves, jam, rice, pasta, with baby food and chocolate, which can be handed over to volunteers at designated collection points.
For Lidl, providing assistance is a common cause
“We are committed to taking an active role in the lives of the local communities where we are present with our stores and to contribute with our own means to helping them live a better life. This idea also guided us when we joined the Christmas fundraising campaign of the Hungarian Food Bank Association, involving 132 of our stores. We would like to bring a little carefree joy into the lives of as many people in need as possible, with the power of collaboration and the participation of customers, and we hope that as many people as possible will be our partners in this”
– said Dr. Tamás Kaibinger is Lidl’s Head of Corporate Relations.
Lidl itself regularly donates food, and not just during the holidays; it is an important part of its everyday operations. On average, it provides assistance to tens of thousands of people in need on a monthly basis with its comprehensive food rescue program, which in the past financial year helped nearly 900 million forints worth of food remaining in stores but still edible, and provided real help to those in need.
