Lidl Hungary joins the global Veganuár™ 2026 initiative as a main sponsor, which encourages consumers to try a plant-based diet every January. The company supports customers’ conscious choice with a wide vegan offer, new products and discounts available in the Lidl Plus app.

Lidl Hungary is supporting the Veganuár™ initiative for the second time, this time as a main sponsor supporting the campaign, which encourages consumers to try a vegan diet for a month in January. It is of utmost importance to the company to facilitate the availability of plant-based products, vegetables and fruits, which is why on the occasion of Veganuár™, it encourages customers to eat more consciously with numerous discounts and new products.

Veganuár™ has inspired millions of people to try the vegan lifestyle since 2014. So far, more than 228 countries have joined the initiative and in 2025, more than 1,480 new vegan products and food options were introduced worldwide in connection with the campaign. In Hungary, 160,000 people have taken on the one-month challenge so far.

“At Lidl Hungary, we are committed to gradually increasing the proportion of whole grains and plant-based protein sources in our own-brand offering. At the group level, we have undertaken to further align our offering with the so-called Planetary Health Diet (PHD) by 2050, on which we work in close cooperation with our suppliers, as our partners’ commitment is also necessary for product development and expansion. We see that there is an increasing demand for plant-based alternatives from customers, and we will continue to strive to meet their expectations to the greatest extent possible,” said Zoltán Nepp, Purchasing Director of Lidl Hungary.

Wide vegan range, at affordable prices

Lidl’s own-brand Vemondo product line continues to offer a wide range of vegetarian and vegan foods. Customers can choose from a wide range of products that are permanently and temporarily available, from sandwich toppings, ready-made meals to desserts. In addition to its own-brand Vemondo product line, the company is now expanding its range with two new vegan products in January: Vegajo Cottage, a cottage cheese-like vegan novelty, and Vegajo vegan dessert, which is available in natural, peach-vanilla and raspberry-elderberry flavor variations.

In addition to constantly expanding the range of its own-brand vegan products, among others, Lidl strives to offer these at similar prices to animal products. Additionally, during the Veganuár™ campaign, if Lidl Plus app users indicate their interest in vegan products in the “About Me/Lifestyle” section, they will regularly receive coupons for vegan products. In addition, additional discounts and extra coupons will be available throughout the month, making it even more cost-effective to try a plant-based diet.
