Among the most competitive sectors is the poultry sector
We help the poultry sector with direct and national subsidies, animal welfare subsidies, temporary subsidies, and subsidies from rural development programs – said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy on Thursday at the conference held in Budapest on the occasion of World Poultry Day.

The head of the department reminded that, in addition to all this, we also took action against Ukrainian poultry products causing disturbances on the domestic market by introducing the import restriction measure. He added that in addition to the listed subsidies, the domestic poultry sector has also received subsidies in other ways in recent years. Such was the exceptional adaptation support created in connection with the Russian-Ukrainian war, compensation due to bird flu, support for breeding organization tasks, and protection against animal diseases. In addition to all of this, we also helped with the Agrár Széchenyi Card program, numerous interest discounts, and a crisis insurance system, the minister detailed. Among the forms of support,
István Nagy singled out the site development support of the Rural Development Program, in which more than HUF 170 billion in support has already been provided for applications received from the poultry sector in connection with a total of 600 applications.
The head of the ministry said that our common interest is to increase the competitiveness of livestock keepers, to encourage the use of new, innovative and environmentally friendly husbandry technologies, and to promote developments. This special attention is indicated by the fact that in the new support period, among the first calls for investment tenders, there are calls for tenders aimed at supporting complex, larger-scale developments and some small-scale renovations of livestock farms. And the basic goal is to increase the competitiveness of animal farms through construction activities and, in addition to introducing the tools, machines and technologies necessary for animal husbandry, to reduce the risk of the appearance of epidemic animal diseases and to modernize the energy of livestock buildings – explained István Nagy, adding that among the poultry animal welfare subsidies, edible eggs production hens and breeding poultry have already been transferred to the new support system under the KAP Strategic Plan.
