Chinese car brand Leapmotor is rapidly expanding its network in Europe

The importer recalled that as part of Leapmotor’s strategic European expansion, it entered new markets in 2025: Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Iceland, Ireland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Sweden. It now has more than 800 sales and service points in Europe, doubling the size of the network compared to 2024.

There are currently 10 dealerships and service points in Hungary, with two more to open this year in the north-eastern region. This means that the country is considered covered in the medium term, although they also indicated that they are not averse to opening new dealerships.

In 2025, the first year of distribution in Hungary, 91 passenger cars were sold in five months, of which 68 were electric. In January of this year, 40 passenger cars were sold, gaining a 0.48 percent share of the Hungarian new car market, while the 39 cars sold in the electric car segment already brought a 5 percent share. In its first full year, in 2026, Leapmotor hopes to have a 4 percent share in the electric segment. Since the range includes only electric and hybrid electric vehicles, our share of the entire passenger car market is expected to be around 0.5 percent.

Leapmotor International B.V. is a joint venture established under the leadership of Stellantis, in which Stellantis N.V. has a 51 percent share and Leapmotor a 49 percent share. The company began operations in Europe in September 2024, and in Hungary, the Emil Frey Group will distribute Leapmotor from May 2025.

Leapmotor delivered 596,555 vehicles worldwide in 2025, achieving a 103 percent annual growth rate, making it the number one among Chinese NEV (New Energy Vehicle) start-up brands.
