The National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK), in cooperation with the government, has created a new internet service to help agricultural and food industry producers expand their foreign markets – the NAK told MTI on Wednesday.

The NAK Foreign Market Support Portal supports exports with important basic information, and in addition to country profiles and contact details for foreign missions, it publishes current standards and transport routes. Another main element of the free-to-visit site is the product search engine compiled from foreign trade data from more than 40 countries, from which users can find out which states import significant quantities of what – they wrote. According to the statement, food exports are a determining factor in Hungarian foreign trade, with almost 40 percent of our export surplus being linked to agriculture and the food industry. The most important products are animal feed and feed, as well as meat and cereals. The majority of the target countries are EU member states, but due to market difficulties, non-EU countries, which currently only receive 20 percent of Hungarian exports, may appreciate – they justified the creation of the service. Based on market processes, NAK sees that new opportunities may open up for Hungarian products mainly in the Balkans, North Africa, Central Asia, the Middle and Far East. According to the plans, the development of the site available at export.nak.hu will continue after the launch, so the system may soon be expanded with new countries and functions – the announcement reads.
