Foreign trades shows pre-crisis characteristics
In January-May 2011 the volume of Hungary’s foreign trade developed as follows: the volume of export augmented by 16 percent and import grew 14 percent from the same period in 2010. According to KSH’s latest report, our trade surplus was HUF 883 billion. We exported in the value of HUF 8,956 billion and imported for HUF 8,073 billion. Both data show improvement from the level before the economic crisis (the first five months in 2008). In the first five months of 2011 our food product, beverage and tobacco product export was up 5 percent from the base rate, while their import grew by 15 percent.
