Corn: major crop failures, due to the drought

In Békés county, the sown area of maize is 106 100 hectares, hybrid corn’s sown area is 8800 hectares, while sunflower is produced on 74 thousand hectares. According to Varjú Mónika, director of agriculture at the Békés county government office, significant crop failure is expected in case of maize. The average yield in Békés county will not reach 6 tons per hectare.
