As long as insects will continue to exist, insect repellents will have a stable market. However, demand is shifting towards products which have a smaller impact on our environment. As Nóra Tremmel, marketing manager of Spotless Hungary has pointed out, the regulations applicable to insecticides and insect repellents are stricter in Hungary than in the EU, which means these do not contain any harmful ingredients. Food stored at home lures insects constantly, which are not only visually repulsive but also spread diseases or cause allergic reactions in many cases. In order to use insecticides effectively, instructions on labels should always be read and followed. According to Anna Bardoly, brand manager from Sara Lee Hungary Zrt., they have been focusing on the crawling insect and moth segments with their innovations for the Chemotox brand in recent years. With warm weather, flying insects also arrive in our homes, driving demand for insecticides up. Aerosols remain the most popular products intended for use against flying insects. Mosquitoes are the number one enemy. Their number is dependent on weather conditions, because they need water to develop. As a result of the increasing environmental consciousness of consumers, demand is gradually shifting towards forms of protection with a lesser environmental impact like electric insect repellents and traps. Vape is committed to constant innovation, like the concept of electric mosquito traps introduced 50 years ago. This year, they will launch 7 new products in the Hungarian market, including the Herbal electric insect trap product line. Chemotox will also launch new electric products for this season. Chemotox MiniM is an electric mosquito trap which does not need to be refilled and is effective even when the window is open. It is also convenient to use, lasting for up to 60 nights. There are also many products for outdoor use. Vape Open Air spray is a brand new product in Hungary which not only kills flying insects but keeps them away for 8 hours without poisoning other animals. As a result of the termination of organised preventive extermination in 2008, ticks have appeared even in parks and gardens, causing an increasing threat. Vape offers several effective forms of protection against ticks, including wipe tissue, aerosol and a cream. Their „sensitive” Vape derm herbal repellent is made exclusively from natural ingredients and can be used on sensitive skin. The Vape Derm Herbal EXTRA repellent offers increased protection with its higher concentration of repellent agent.
